A Lafayette Street woman went to the police station around 7:20 p.m. to report that she had received a letter in the mail. “She was concerned about both the content and the fact that she was unfamiliar with the sender,” police wrote. “She was advised that this was nothing more than a scam and to disregard the letter.”
A woman at 45 Lawrence St. called police at 9:28 p.m. to report that her neighbor was smoking marijuana “and it is making her apartment stink.” Police determined that the scent was from an incense candle.
Police received a 12:19 a.m.. report that a red pickup truck had backed into a car on Hancock Street and arrested Michael Steven Lull, 35, of 31 Hancock St., Salem, on a charge of drunken driving, third offense.
A 1:30 a.m. report of an undesirable man at 30 West Ave. resulted in the arrest of Shawn Duncan, 22, of 29 Rosewood Ave., Billerica, on charges of breaking and entering in the nighttime to commit a felony and wanton destruction of property over $100. An officer said Duncan went to his ex-girlfriend’s house and tried to get in, but she wouldn’t let him, so he climbed in through an open window, knocking over a flower pot in the process.
An 11:58 a.m. report of a “party acting up in waiting room” on Highland Avenue resulted in the arrest of Jaime Peguero, 26, of 117 Lafayette St., Salem, on a charge of aggravated assault and battery.
Police received a 12:28 p.m. report from an employee of the court clinic at the Salem District Court that a client had “made threats to cause harm in the court complex.” Michael Ball, 24, of 10 Becket St., Salem, was later arrested on a warrant with a charge of threatening to commit a crime (murder). An officer said Ball threatened to “shoot people.”
