Chamber announces award nominees

SALEM — A candy manufacturer and the owner of a T-shirt shop are among the six women nominated for Businesswoman of the Year by the Salem Chamber of Commerce.

Phyllis LeBlanc of Harbor Sweets and Joan Brennan of Witch Tees were nominated for one of the top honors at this year's banquet, along with Wendi Goldsmith of The Bioengineering Group, Helen Medler of Hawthorne Tours, Betsy Merry of MerryFox Realty and Christine Robidoux of Modern Millie, a vintage and consignment clothing store.

The winners of the Celebrate Salem Awards will be announced at the Salem Chamber's 87th annual dinner on April 29 inside the atrium at the Peabody Essex Museum.

The theme of the evening will be "The Golden Age of Dutch Seascapes," in recognition of a painting exhibit of Dutch and Flemish masters that opens at the PEM on June 13.

Tickets for the dinner and awards ceremony are $85 per person, and table sponsorships are also available.

Tickets can be bought at the Salem Chamber, 265 Essex St., or by calling 978-744-0004.
