A trashy affair for a good cause

BEVERLY — There was a lot of trash talking going on. But don't worry, none of it was bad.

The art of reusing something someone else threw away was the theme of Saturday night's Trashfinders' Ball at the American Legion, where community members donned one-of-a-kind outfits made of materials like recycled newspapers and bottle caps.

The event raised money for Harborlight Community Partners, a Beverly nonprofit that creates and operates affordable housing.

Guests swapped stories about some of the different items they've found on the side of the road, told tales of where to go for what and met with friends who share their quirky passion for turning nothing into something.
