Car smashes through Peabody office building

PEABODY | At least five people were injured when a car crashed through the glass entryway of a doctor's office on Centennial Drive this morning.

Firefighters used an extrication tool to remove the female driver and a passenger, who were taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Others in the lobby were also taken to area hospitals.

Police received the first emergency calls at 10:44 a.m. Department spokesman Capt. Dennis Bonaiuto said the car “suddenly accelerated right into the building.”

The Inifiti has been towed to the Police Department for investigation.

Workers in the building, Internal Medicine Physicians of the North Shore at 27 Centennial Drive, said they heard a loud crash and people started screaming.
