Multi-car accidents clog up Route 128

DANVERS — Eight vehicles were involved in two separate, four-car accidents at 8:30 a.m. on Route 128 north near Exit 21 yesterday morning. The accidents caused non-life threatening injuries to some of those involved, according to state police.

Police said the two accidents were not related.

Traffic was backed up yesterday morning as a result of the accidents, but police could not say for how long.

"Beverly Hospital and Salem Hospital took the parties," said Trooper Anthony Carriere of the state police barracks in Danvers.

According to police, at least one person suffered a possible broken arm.

Details were not available last night. In the first accident the four individuals involved were James Shea, Michael Goodell, Mahesh Patel and Cynthia Crawford. The second accident involved Ryan Rice, Olivie Rogers, Christina Pescatore and David Cambell. Police could not provide the ages and addresses of the individuals involved by deadline, or say who was injured.

Trooper Anthony Vorias is investigating.
