Break-in occurs while residents are home

SWAMPSCOTT — Police are investigating a break-in at a home that happened while the residents were inside sleeping.

Police responded to the Nason Road home at 5:45 a.m. yesterday after one of the residents called the police.

Detectives collected evidence that will be sent to the state police crime lab for testing, according to Detective Sgt. Tim Cassidy.

Several items were taken from the home.

"Residents are reminded, especially at this time of year, to lock the doors of their homes and cars and not to leave any valuables out in the open," Cassidy said.

Police did not say how the burglar got into the home.

Anyone with information is asked to call Swampscott police at 781-595-1111.

Police Sgt. Joseph Kable and Patrolmen Jay Locke and Todd Nottingham responded to the initial call.
