Parent feedback sought for new Ipswich superintendent

---- — IPSWICH — School leaders are looking for parents’ input in the hiring of a new superintendent.

Three forums will be held in January where parents can chime in on what type of leader they’d like to see replace Superintendent Rick Korb, who will retire June 30 after 15 years.

“When we make a big change like this, we want to hear from everyone in the community,” said School Committee Chairman Hugh O’Flynn. “We are reaching out to the community to come up with a profile for the next superintendent.”

The committee has hired Future Management Systems of Beverly to oversee the search process and to conduct the forums. Additional forums will be held for teachers and staff. A superintendent search committee of 10 to 12 members is expected to be appointed by mid-January, he said.

The committee hopes to make a new hire by May 1.

The forums will take place at the following times:

Jan. 9 for special education parents, in the Middle School kiva, 7:15 to 8:15 p.m.

Jan. 10 for middle/high school parents, in Middle School kiva, 7:15 to 8:15 p.m.

Jan. 15 for elementary school parents, at Doyson Library, 7:15 to 8:15 p.m.
