Police received a 1:37 p.m. report that an unknown man had lunged at a cashier at the CVS at 426 Essex St. and said, “I’m gonna smash you,” after he was told he wouldn’t be refunded about $7 for watch batteries. No actual contact between the two was reported. Police checked the area but were unable to locate the man.
An Essex Street woman reported at 3:02 p.m. that her credit card statement listed transactions at local stores that she hadn’t made. The woman said “she never takes the card from her home and its sole use is for online accounts,” an officer wrote. Police are investigating.
A woman reported at 3:19 p.m. that her Chevrolet Blazer had been vandalized while it was parked in the rear lot of Sidelines Sports Bar on Canal Street. The woman told police there were “hand and foot prints” on the front quarters and hood of the vehicle, as well as “a small mark of what appears to be feces.”
An 11:57 p.m. report of domestic assault at 107 Elliott St. resulted in the arrest of Justin Shairs, 20, of the same address, on charges of domestic assault and battery and intimidation of a witness.
Police received a 4:13 p.m. report of a residential break-in at 6 Lawrence St.
An elderly woman was transported to Salem Hospital with minor injuries after an accident involving the sedan she was driving and a pickup truck at 50 Endicott St. around 7:30 p.m., a firefighter said.
Police received a 9:28 a.m. report that a car had been parked on the street at Highland Terrace and Village Street “with keys and wallet in plain view” for three days. An officer left a voice mail for the owner.
A Farrell Court man reported at 11:48 a.m. that he went to check on his neighbor’s cat after he heard it crying and found his neighbor “lying naked and unresponsive.” Police contacted the medical examiner after determining that the man had died. An officer said the death was not considered suspicious.
