Friday

A pedestrian told police at 5:09 p.m. that she was hit by a truck on Derby Street. The vehicle “struck her left leg, spun her around where she fell to the ground, and the pickup stopped on her right foot,” according to the log. Maria Piccillo complained of knee and foot pain but refused medical attention. The truck driver was cited.

Try the civil court — that was the advice to a woman who complained that her mother had all the utility bills in her name, despite the fact that she lives elsewhere. Police put the report on file, according to the log at 6:03 p.m.

The spurned boyfriend got an uncomfortable response when he repeatedly called his former girlfriend — instead of hearing her voice, he got the stern tones of a Salem patrolman who warned him that criminal charges could result if he didn’t stop calling. The girlfriend was lodging a complaint against him at the precise moment he called her cellphone, according to the log at 6:51 p.m.

John Stevens Pendleton, 42, of 8 Jefferson St., Marblehead, was arrested at 10:39 p.m. on Highland Avenue by officers Dennis Luti and Karla Caldera on charges of drunken driving and unsafe lane changes. The arrest followed a two-car accident. Pendleton has a previous drunken-driving conviction.

A woman told a cab driver that she would get his $12 fare in her residence on Lafayette Street. Then she went inside and never came out. Police were called at 11:38 p.m., and officers were able to locate the “obviously drunk” woman in her apartment. The fare, plus an $8 tip, was paid by the woman’s mother, “who then chastised her grown daughter for acting like a juvenile,” according to the log.

Men walking down Essex Street didn’t get the chair, according to the log at 12:59 a.m. They explained to police they saw it in front of Citizens Bank and carried it off because “they believed the chair was trash.” Officers had them “return the chair to where they had found it.”
