SALEM — A Lynn man who had allegedly grown “obsessed” with a young Salem woman was ordered held without bail yesterday, a day after he allegedly showed up at her home and threatened to kill her and two others Thursday evening.
Isaac Suggs, 40, of 110 Newhall St., was arrested in Lynn following a standoff with police, hours after he’d fled the woman’s home on Mason Street in Salem.
The woman told police that she got a call from a man she knows who lives in Lynn. Then, 20 minutes later, Suggs and a second, unidentified man showed up at her home, looking for her.
She did not answer the door, she told police, and called her brother and his friend for help.
Suggs and the other man then returned, pulling up to the front of the house in an SUV, according to a police report. Suggs repeatedly yelled “Everyone is dead,” and brandished a black-and-silver handgun, the woman told police.
Weeks earlier, on Dec. 19, Suggs was arrested at the woman’s home after he kicked in her door, demanding an item that he said belonged to him, then stabbed a bedpost with a knife, terrifying the woman. He was charged with trespassing, assault with a dangerous weapon and malicious destruction of property.
The woman said Suggs had expressed a romantic interest in her but that she had indicated that she wanted to remain “just friends.” She told police she believes Suggs is “obsessed” with her.
At several points during Thursday’s incident, Suggs allegedly referred to the woman as a “cop-calling (expletive),” blaming her for his arrest last month.
Suggs pleaded not guilty to three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, three counts of attempting to commit a crime and a charge of witness intimidation at his arraignment yesterday.
At the request of prosecutors, Salem District Court Judge Michael Lauranzano ordered Suggs held without bail pending a hearing on Jan. 11 to determine whether his release poses a danger to the woman or the public.
