Police and the Fire Department responded to 9 Heritage Drive after a 6:08 p.m. report that a vehicle there was on fire, but determined it was only overheating.

A 7:25 p.m. report that a vehicle rear-ended another vehicle at a red light brought police to Ayube Bypass Road and Bridge Street, where they arrested Sandra Cook, 44, of 18 Hull St., Beverly, on charges of drunken driving and following too closely. No injuries were reported.

Police were able to locate a stolen iPhone 4 at 38 Station Road by having the service provider “ping” its whereabouts, according to a 7:40 p.m. report. Police arrested Stanley Gammette, 22, of 16 Spring Court, Swampscott, on a charge of receiving stolen property after he admitted taking it from a restaurant, according to the log.

Police responded to a 10:21 p.m. report of a motor vehicle accident at 300 Canal St. and subsequently arrested Douglas Paul Gerardi, 55, of 56 Hooper St., Chelsea, on charges of drunken driving, second offense; and following too closely. No injuries were reported.

Three tires were stolen from beside a house on Naumkeag Street, according to an 8:40 a.m. report.

Ernie G. Belleisle, 40, of 116 Lafayette St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting after he allegedly tried to steal $48 worth of baseball cards from the Red Lion Smoke Shop, according to an 8:58 a.m. log item.

Police received a 12:36 p.m. report that a man had tried the doorknobs to a house on English Street. He was described as a white man in his late 20s with dark brown hair. The woman who reported the activity also said that a man had come to the house several days before and yelled “I know you’re in there.”

A 6:47 p.m. report of shoplifters at Walmart resulted in the arrests of Monique Lefave, 22, of 250 Washington St., Salem, and Charndra Morency, 24, of the same address, each on a charge of shoplifting.
