Search warrant leads to drug bust in Salem

SALEM — Police say they conducted a search warrant at a Forest Avenue residence yesterday afternoon and arrested a man on various drug charges.

John Leger, 28, of 21 Forest Ave., Salem, was arrested on charges of three counts of possession of a class B substance with intent to distribute, illegal possession of a class B substance and illegal possession of a class A substance, said Lt. Mary Butler.

Leger was also the subject of three warrants, two of which involved motor vehicle violations in Peabody and the other a class B charge in Salem, Butler said.

Officers executed the search warrant at Leger’s residence at 2:54 p.m., according to the log.

Butler said heroin was seized during the search, in addition to suboxone, a drug used to treat opiate addiction, and oxycodone.
