---- — DANVERS — Remember that wedding reception at Danversport Yacht Club last year that ended with a brawl and the mother of the groom being arrested?
In April, Darlene DeIorio of Revere admitted to taking part in the brawl and was placed on a year of supervised probation for the April 28, 2012, incident.
Now her son, the groom, is in trouble, charged by Revere police with kidnapping and beating a man in the head with a baseball bat over text messages the man purportedly sent to his new bride.
Anthony Weiner, 25, of Revere, is charged with offenses that include attempted murder, kidnapping, and multiple assault and battery counts, including one with the intent to intimidate, according to the Suffolk district attorney’s office.
The alleged victim, a 21-year-old Winthrop man, was hospitalized as a result of the assault, which happened Sunday, according to prosecutors.
Weiner had sent a text from his wife’s cellphone to lure the man to his mother’s home on Malden Street in Revere, where he tied the man to a chair, struck him in the head with the bat, and then threatened him with a screw gun and a BB gun, police told the Revere Journal.
Prosecutors say that when the man began to vomit, as a result of the injuries, Weiner gave him money, told him to keep his mouth shut and put him in a cab.
Weiner is also charged with assaulting his wife, the newspaper reported.
Weiner allegedly acknowledged having a “physical confrontation” with the victim but said he was acting in self-defense.
Weiner will be back in Chelsea District Court on Monday for a hearing in his case, according to prosecutors.
