Forums set to discuss Salem pedestrian mall

SALEM — The city will hold a series of forums on the future of the Essex Street pedestrian mall.

The four forums will focus on the good and bad points of the paved walkway and improvements that residents and business owners would like to see.

The city is working on this project with the Peabody Essex Museum and The Salem Partnership.

The first public meeting is Tuesday, Jan. 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the Salem Five community room, which is on the mall.

The three other forums also are planned for Tuesdays — Feb. 8, March 8 and April 12 — at the same time and place.
