Police: Woman robs Eastern Bank in Peabody

PEABODY — Police say a woman robbed the Eastern Bank on Lynn Street this afternoon.

The incident occurred about 3:30 p.m., when a woman wearing a dark shirt and a bandanna on her head approached the transaction counter of the bank and handed over a note demanding money, according to a press release.

The woman didn’t show a weapon during the incident, but alleged she possessed one in the note, an officer said.

After the clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, the woman fled on Lynn Street, possibly in an older-model, gold-colored Chevrolet Malibu or Impala.

There were no injuries during the incident.

The FBI is investigating the incident, along with Peabody detectives.
