Police

Beverly

Monday

Police responded to 20 Sohier Road after a 9:33 a.m. report of a strong odor coming from a unit there and determined that the problem was an overflowing cat litter box.

An officer stopped an Americab taxi after seeing it pick up passengers from 69 Story Ave. because the company “is not duly licensed in Beverly,” according to a 1:41 p.m. report. Police determined that the driver was transporting the passengers — his dependents — to a hospital in Boston for free. They were allowed to proceed.

A woman reported at 6:28 p.m. that a man had approached her near Dane Street Beach and tried to speak with her several times, then passed by her several times on his motorcycle and “stopped on side streets to watch her.” The woman said she stopped two other women and asked them to wait with her; the man drove off on Cabot Street. He was described as being a white man with a small motorcycle and a “funny” helmet. “She described the helmet as having a mohawk of different colors,” police wrote. The man was also wearing goggles and had a brown beard, she said.

Police received an 8:28 p.m. report of a lost diamond engagement ring at 181 Elliott St.

Tuesday

Police spoke with an 8-year-old who was causing a disturbance on a bus near 191 Cabot St., according to an 11:18 a.m. report. An officer advised her “to stop her disruptive behavior or she would be removed from the bus and brought into the police station,” police wrote. “She was also advised to put her seat belt on.”

Peabody

Monday

Police received a 2:34 p.m. report of a tall, white man bothering people for money at 6 Essex Center Drive. An officer was unable to locate him.

A man at the Charles Motel, 4 Mill St., told police at 5:12 p.m. that he punched another man who had vandalized his car and threatened him. Police advised both on their harassment order rights.
