---- — Business owners in Hamilton and Wenham will do their best to get residents in the holiday spirit tomorrow during the third annual Christmas in the Village.
The event, sponsored by the Hamilton-Wenham Village Merchants Association, runs from 5 to 9 p.m. and features food, drinks, caroling, raffles and deals for shoppers who visit Railroad Avenue in Hamilton and 300 Main St. in Wenham.
“The idea is to bring in people that haven’t been down to the strip,” said Nick Katsoulis, owner of Henderson’s Cafe in Wenham. Several shops in the Main Street plaza, including Henderson’s, are participating in the event.
At his eatery, Katsoulis will offer 3-ounce samplers of beer brewed locally by Mercury Brewing Co., known for its Ipswich Ale. Other shops will have wine and cheese on hand in addition to special sales.
Shops extend their hours for the event, which also features a visit from Santa Claus and live music. Residents who attend will receive a card that lists all participating vendors. Those who visit each business and have their cards signed by a representative of each shop will have a chance to win a gift basket.
“It’s like a big Easter egg hunt,” Katsoulis said.
Last year’s event attracted large crowds, Katsoulis said, and merchants hope for the same tomorrow.
“I don’t get to walk around, but I am nonstop people,” he said.
Participating merchants include Allied Conservation, Beyond Tailoring by Seta, County Crossroads Realty, Crows Corner Gift Shoppe, Henderson’s Cafe, The Hendersons Gift, Jolie Tea, Locksmyths Hair, Lisa Murray Dentist, Marybeth’s Day Spa, The Singing Flower, Timeless Interiors, Zazou’s, Talbots, The Hungry Fox, Blue Peacock and Hamilton-Wenham Veterinary Hospital.
