Police: Teen sets up, robs his friend

SALEM — Police say a teenager was arrested Monday night after he set his friend up to be assaulted and robbed in back of a building on First Street.

Josue Sanchez, 17, of 419 Broadway, Lynn, was arrested on charges of assault and battery, aggravated assault and battery, unarmed robbery, and assault and battery by dangerous weapon.

According to the police log, a 19-year-old male told police around 8:30 p.m. that he had been attacked by three people after he went to meet his friend in back of 12 First St. — and that his friend was the only one of the three assailants he could identify. The two had been on the phone prior to the attack.

Sgt. David Tucker said the assailants kicked the victim, hit him in the face and ripped out his earring after they surprised him in back of the building.

“He saw somebody in the bushes, but it was too late,” Tucker said.

The trio made off with the victim’s cellphone, wallet and eyeglasses, Tucker said.
