An Essex Street man reported at 3:45 p.m. that he was missing $20 from a dresser drawer.

A rock was thrown at a truck at Carver Street and Livingstone Avenue, according to a 5:30 p.m. report. Police were unable to locate anybody in the area.

Police received a 6:28 p.m. report that a Broughton Road woman went out her back door when Rent-A-Center showed up to collected rented furniture.

Tuesday

The Fire Department extinguished a car fire in a 2001 Honda Tribute that ignited after a two-car accident near Sohier Road and Brimbal Avenue around 7 p.m. The accident occurred when a vehicle traveling south on Sohier Road tried to turn left onto the Route 128 bypass road toward Brimbal Avenue and cut in front of a vehicle traveling north on Sohier Road that had the right of way, Officer Dave Costa said. The vehicle trying to turn was struck by the other vehicle, which subsequently caught fire. All three occupants managed to escape and were transported to Beverly Hospital with back and neck pain, Costa said. A section of Sohier Road was closed while crews cleaned the scene. No citations were reported.

Police received a 2:40 p.m. report that items including pink slippers, laundry detergent and hair spray were taken from an apartment at 115 Lowell St. over the weekend.

A 4:32 p.m. report of shoplifting at Sears at the Northshore Mall resulted in the arrest of Francis Dermody, 45, of 230 N. Main St., Randolph, on charges of shoplifting, possession of a Class B drug and disorderly conduct.

At 6:01 p.m., an officer at 174 Main St. arrested Kelly Whitten, 24, of 69 Campbell Ave., Apt. 1, Revere, on charges of two counts of possession of a Class B drug.

Police received a 6:33 p.m. report of a shoplifter at Sears at the Northshore Mall and arrested Lawrence Ianetta, 45, of 190 Lafayette St., Apt. 8, Salem, on charges of shoplifting and receiving stolen property over $250.
