Rollover crash closes 128 in Peabody

PEABODY — Route 128 south was closed for roughly an hour last night by a rollover crash near the exit to Route 114.

Just before 9 p.m., the driver of a Honda Accord suffered “a medical issue” and veered into a guardrail, Massachusetts State Trooper Michael Callahan said.

The driver, an elderly man, was taken to the hospital, and his vehicle was towed.

The rollover crash closed Route 128 south and one lane of Route 128 north in Peabody. The highway was reopened by 10:30 p.m.

The driver, whom state police declined to identify, was alone in his vehicle. No charges had been filed as of last night. The rollover did not involve any other vehicles, Callahan said.
