Romel Danis, 19, of 501 Washington St., Lynn, was arrested at 6:05 a.m. on Route 1 on charges of driving with a suspended license, speeding and carrying a dangerous weapon (brass knuckles).



A family reported their pregnant 16-year-old daughter had run away after being released from juvenile court. She was picked up by Reading police, brought back to Peabody and taken to a juvenile lockup in Lowell.

The Toys “R” Us on Route 114 reported the theft of $680 worth of merchandise.

Police investigated a report of gunshots near Lowell and Russell streets around 10:15 p.m. There was a similar report on Roosevelt Avenue a half-hour later but police could not locate the sounds.


Police warned a 45-year-old woman driving near Lowell Street and Route 128 at 1:24 a.m. for not turning on her headlights.

Police helped a detail officer restore the peace at 8:20 a.m. at the Foot Locker store in the Northshore Mall during a sneaker sale.

Police went to a city parking lot on Central Street at 9:12 a.m. on a report of a dog that had been left alone in a car, allegedly for several days. The male chocolate Lab mix, which appeared to be in pain, was taken to an animal clinic. Police looked for identification and found the name “Jesus” on the dog’s collar along with a phone number. Police called the number and received a recorded message that the phone owner is not accepting calls at this time.

Police received a call at 12:38 p.m. of one neighbor plowing another neighbor’s yard on Lowell Street with a yard tractor. Police said it was part of an ongoing neighborhood dispute.



A woman called police at 8:25 a.m. to complain that her 17-year-old daughter refused to go to school. Police said they couldn’t make a 17-year-old go to school but would send an officer to help with the unruly girl.

The Fire Department went to Marblehead High School at 9:23 on an alarm. Students in the building were “sheltering in place near the elevators,” according to the police log. The alarm was triggered by burnt toast.
