---- — PEABODY — Spring brings rebirth, and that includes Main Street, where the city is continuing with major changes designed to make the downtown bloom.

In other words, construction on the Main Street Corridor Realignment has recommenced after a winter hiatus.

Work includes changing the street from four lanes to two, and it’s scheduled for weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., lasting until June 30.

In addition to the lane changes, expect modernized traffic lights, better signage, repaving, more noticeable crosswalks, sidewalk “bumpouts,” curb cuts, trees, brick crosswalks and traffic islands for pedestrians to escape oncoming cars.

Your favorite shops will keep regular hours throughout.
