Man dies in Boxford crash

BOXFORD — A 59-year-old Reading man died yesterday in a one-car crash on Lawrence Road near the North Andover line.

The car appeared to have been headed east on Lawrence Road in Boxford, just a couple hundred yards past the North Andover line, when it veered to the right and went off the narrow, winding road before hitting a snowbank and then a utility pole.

The driver died at the scene, according to police and fire officials. No further information was available on the man’s identity last night.

Accident reconstruction specialists from the state police are investigating along with Boxford police and fire officials.

Lawrence Road was shut to traffic from Brookview Road in Boxford to Salem Street in North Andover.

National Grid was also on scene. Power was not lost to area homes, officials said.
