Police: Man falls 20 feet off ladder

MARBLEHEAD — Police say a construction worker was hospitalized after he fell 20 feet off a ladder on Coolidge Road yesterday morning.

Police and emergency personnel responded after a 10 a.m. report of the accident from a caller who said the unidentified man was awake and “they were not letting him move,” according to the log.

An officer arrived on the scene and determined that the man was “conscious and alert” but had “no movement from waist down.”

He could move his arms, police said.

The man was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital. He was apparently working for Grove Construction at the time of the accident.

Police notified the Occupational Safety and Health Administration about the incident.

Police and the Fire Department declined to provide further information.
