Peabody West to sell commemorative T-shirts

PEABODY — T-shirts commemorating Peabody West's historic win of the New England Regional Tournament will be on sale Thursday at Cy Tenney Park.

Alex Piandes, a Peabody West Little League board member, said yesterday the white shirts will bear the team's new colors, maroon with silver, which were assigned to them by the Little League organization.

"We're representing the city of Peabody," Piandes said. "Make no mistake about it."

The $12 shirts will be available at the Johnson Street park for purchase from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

"They're going to look sharp," Piandes said.

Peabody West won the regional tournament Saturday, which landed the team one of 16 spots at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.

The state and regional champs play their first game Friday against McAllister Park American of San Antonio, Texas.

The league has been jubilant over its winning team's successes and is trying to respond with ways to support them.

"We're not surprised, but still, just the same, we find ourselves scrambling," Piandes said.

He said the city's other leagues as well as those from neighboring communities have offered overwhelming support.

"The outpouring of support from other Little Leagues in Peabody and outside has been incredible," Piandes said.
