Eliane Costa, 40, of 154 Lowell St., Peabody, was arrested, as logged at 2:15 p.m., for driving without a license. Police had been investigating a two-car collision. The other driver earned a ticket for running a red light.
A woman on Oakland Street found three bikes abandoned in her backyard and brought them to the police station, according to the log at 2:51 p.m.
An attempted break at Elginwood Road, logged at 3:15 p.m., involved “suspects reported to be two white males with black T-shirts” fleeing “towards lakes.” A 20-year-old Middleton man will be summonsed for an “attempt to commit a crime.”

Police taught the lesson to a Nickerson Road woman who got unsolicited checks with instruction to “send the over payment of cash back to them.” The checks are bogus, police advised, and the woman would be responsible for repaying all the money if she cashed them.
