Salem club hit with suspension

SALEM — The Ward II Social Club has been hit with a one-day suspension by the Licensing Board.

The private social club on East Collins Street was cited for an after-hours drinking violation on Aug. 18. Patrolman Gil Priddy told the board he went into the club at 1:16 a.m. and found two men drinking at the bar.

The closing hour for restaurants and clubs is 1 a.m.

A club official apologized for the incident and said the bar manager on duty that night has been fired.

The club was told it can choose the day it will serve the liquor license suspension.
