Police: Woman offers officer sex for money

SALEM — A local woman was arrested after she offered sex for money to an officer in a department vehicle, the second woman to do so in less than two months, police said.

Starica Healey, 26, of 71 Palmer St., Salem, was arrested on charges of prostitution and illegal possession of a class E substance. She was also wanted on a warrant with motor vehicle offenses, according to the incident log.

The incident began when officers Thomas Pelletier and Deni Gaito — in plainclothes and on patrol in an unmarked cruiser — noticed a woman “who appeared to have no real purpose” standing in the area of 164 Lafayette St. about 2 p.m., according to the log.

Pelletier then dropped Gaito off at the corner of Lafayette and Dow streets “on an unrelated matter,” police wrote.

“Due to the lack of parking, this officer circled the block and as a result passed the female for a second time and looked at her in attempt to identify her,” wrote Pelletier.

Pelletier then pulled over at the corner of Lafayette and Dow streets for a second time, at which point Healey allegedly approached him and asked, “Looking for a date?”

“Upon further conversation with the female, she offered to provide this officer with whatever sexual conduct I wanted for a fee of thirty dollars,” wrote Pelletier.

Pelletier then identified himself as an officer and arrested Healey.

During the booking process, Gaito found 5 Gabapentin in Healey’s purse, warranting the charge of illegal possession of a class E substance charge, according to the log.

On Sept. 9, a 22-year-old Salem woman was arrested on a prostitution charge after she allegedly flagged down a police sergeant on Salem Street and offered him oral sex for $20.

The officer was operating an unmarked vehicle at the time and wasn’t wearing his uniform, though he was outfitted with his badge and gun.
