Police received a 12:04 p.m. report of shoplifting at Claire’s Boutique at Liberty Tree Mall and subsequently arrested Mindy Mangini, 27, of 18 Tanner Court, Peabody, on a charge of shoplifting by asportation, third offense.
Police received a report about 5:25 p.m. that a motorist had seen a man abuse his dog as he tried to cross the roadway at Hobart and Centre streets. The small dog was reluctant to cross the street, so the man dragged it across by its leash and then picked it up and threw it, according to the report. An officer was unable to locate the man.
A 10:30 p.m. report of a family dispute brought police to 12 Crowninshield St., where they determined a stepbrother and sister and were “arguing over property of [a] recently deceased relative. Both parties advised to have attorneys handle the matter.”
A 1:23 a.m. report that a vehicle struck a light pole at Pulaski Street and Pound Lane resulted in the arrest of Jose Benitez, 24, of 26 North Central St., Apt. 1, Peabody, on charges of drunken driving, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and a one-way street violation.
Police conducted a traffic stop on Newbury Street at 6:21 a.m. and subsequently arrested William J. Allen, 28, of 120 North St., Salem, on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and having no inspection sticker.
A woman reported at 1:25 p.m. that $230 in cash had been stolen from her purse while she was trying on shoes at the Macy’s at Northshore Mall.
