Police: Robber threatens to shoot clerk in face

BEVERLY — Police are looking for a man they say threatened to shoot a Walgreens clerk in the face during a robbery early yesterday morning.

No injuries were reported.

Officer were dispatched to Walgreens at 54 Elliott St. about 1 a.m. after a report of the incident, said Lt. Michael Devlin.

The suspect — described as a short black male in his mid-30s, with short black hair, wearing a gray sweatshirt and shorts — approached the clerk and demanded money from the register, claiming he had a gun. No weapon was actually shown.

The clerk handed over a “small amount” of cash, and the suspect fled the store, Devlin said.

The investigation is ongoing.
