Public forum tonight will detail Bertram Field plans

The Salem News

---- — SALEM — A public forum tonight at 7:30 at the City Hall Annex, 120 Washington St., is your chance to ask questions and give input on the improvements planned for Bertram Field.

This winter, Salem was awarded a $400,000 state grant through the Parkland Acquisitions and Renovations for Communities, or PARC, program for upgrades at Bertram Field, Salem High School’s main football field.

Proposed improvements include installation of synthetic turf, and either reconstruction of the existing running track or expansion of the track to 400 meters. Construction is anticipated to begin this spring.

The project is estimated to cost more than $1 million, $400,000 of which would be covered by the PARC grant.

Bertram Field, located behind Collins Middle School, is used by Salem High School athletics, as well as youth sports programs.

Tonight’s meeting will be on the third floor at 120 Washington St. Contact the city’s Department of Planning and Community Development at 978-619-5685 for more information.
