---- — HAMILTON-WENHAM — There will be three new members on the School Committee after this week’s elections.

Incumbents Ann Minois, Larry Swartz and Kym Donnellan are not seeking re-election. The elections will be Thursday in both towns.

Four candidates are running for the three open seats on the nine-member board: Jeanise Bertrand of Wenham, Richard Boroff of Hamilton, Deborah Evans of Wenham and Melissa Even Moore of Hamilton.

Boroff, 70, was on the committee for seven years before being defeated in the 2011 election. He said he is inquisitive, a good listener and passionate about education.

“I decided it was time to get back into it,” Boroff said. “Things are going in a good direction, and I want to be a part of it.”

As a contract attorney and former high school teacher, Moore, 43, said she has a lot to offer the committee.

“I truly care about this town and education in the towns,” said Moore, who grew up in Hamilton and graduated from Hamilton-Wenham High School. “My kids aren’t in the schools yet, but they will be soon. I think it is important to give back.”

Bertrand, 22, said that as a 2009 graduate of the high school, she understands how the decisions the School Committee makes affect students lives.

“I believe education is everything, it opens doors and creates opportunities,” she said. “As a member of the School Committee, it is our job to prepare students to be active, successful and productive in all their future endeavors.”

Evans, 49, a former Wenham Finance Committee member, said she is interested in “enhancing quality, exploring innovation and achieving efficiency” within the school system.

“I am running because I believe that education is a community value that deeply impacts all townspeople,” she said. “The quality of education we provide affects our whole community.”
