---- — DANVERS — Police say a woman was arrested Sunday after she allegedly whipped her 11-year-old son with an electrical cord — a form of discipline that she told an officer was acceptable in her native Nigeria.
Busola Malvo, 37, of 30 Wayside Drive, Danvers, was arrested on charges of domestic assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and reckless endangerment to a child.
An officer said the boy called 911 after his mother struck him with the cord on his head and both legs, knees and thighs.
He was subsequently transported to Beverly Hospital.
The officer said the boy was whipped after he refused to fold clothes.
The Department of Children and Families was notified about the incident.
