An alert citizen found a dental retainer stored in a black plastic container at Dane Street Beach.

Jonathan Bills, 29, of 1923 West Greenfield Ave., Milwaukee, was arrested at 4:30 p.m. and charged with soliciting without a permit, following a report of a solicitor on Frankwood Avenue.

Jesse Lumbert, 21, of 101 Easton St., Granby, was arrested at 4:52 p.m. and charged with soliciting without a permit, following a report of a door-to-door salesman selling cleaning products on Bosworth Street.

Jason T. Brown, 24, of 162 Union St., Everett; James Nicholson, 18, who is listed as homeless; and Van A. Shane, 18, of 47 West St., Boston, were arrested at 5:20 p.m. and each charged with receiving stolen property, following a report of a possible stolen car on Simon Street. Shane was also charged with driving while unlicensed and violating the city's knife ordinance.

Police received a report at 5:55 p.m. of three kids sitting near the train tracks on Park Street.

Police received a report at 6:14 p.m. of a real estate sign stolen from Jordan Street.

Police received a report at 10:08 p.m. of a break-in at a Green Street home.

Salem

Daniel W. Wright Jr., 19, of 70 Salem St., Salem, was arrested at 5:34 p.m. and charged with marijuana possession, marijuana possession with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana in a school zone (Saltonstall School), and possession of an imitation firearm, following a report from a concerned citizen of two men standing on a back porch on Leavitt Street. The citizen gave a description of the men on the porch, and police responded. Police found the two men and patted them down for officer safety. Police found nothing on one man but found a black replica handgun tucked in the front of Wright's waistband, police said. Police also found a sandwich bag containing five small twist bags of marijuana.

Kim D. Hyder, 51, of 2 Elm Top Lane, Beverly, was arrested at 6:42 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct and misleading to obstruct justice, following a civil dispute over a dog on Washington Street.

Police responded to a Derby Street address at 6:48 p.m. for a report of a man in the ceiling. The resident noticed one of the drop-ceiling panels raised in her apartment and thought someone may be in the space between the panel and the ceiling. Police checked the area and noted the area was only a foot in height and it would be impossible for anyone to fit.

Police received a report at 7:37 p.m. of tires slashed on a car parked on Canal Street.

Wednesday

Taylor L. Desmond, 25, of 11 Cedar St., Salem, was arrested at 9:48 a.m. and charged with domestic assault and domestic assault and battery at the residence.

Police received a report at 11 a.m. of a house break on Charles Street.

Police received a report at 12:56 p.m. of a hypodermic needle on Loring Avenue by Leggs Hill Road.
