Firefighters battling 2-alarm blaze on Corning Street in Beverly

BEVERLY — Firefighters are currently on the scene of a 2-alarm fire at 18 Corning St. in Beverly.

Engines from Beverly, Manchester, Salem and Danvers have responded.

Neighbors said they could hear a series of explosions when the fire occurred, apparently coming from the garage. Firefighters have been fighting the flames, which had spread to the attic, from the roof of the house, as smoke rises overhead.

According to the city's online Geographic Information System, the property at 18 Corning St. is valued at $425,600.

A van parked in the driveway, with the words Liberty Interiors on the side, appears to have been charred by the flames.
