Ipswich man nabbed on drug charges

IPSWICH — A 28-year-old Ipswich man was arrested on multiple drug charges this past weekend after a drug investigation that spanned several months, police said.

Richard Sotiropoulos, of 18 Brown St., Apt. 3, was arrested after a search warrant was executed around 6 a.m. Saturday on charges of possessing heroin, oxycodone and clonazepam with intent to distribute. He was also charged with possession of cocaine.

Lt. Dan Moriarty said yesterday that he couldn’t offer more details on Sotiropoulos’ arrest or investigation because he hasn’t been arraigned. He is scheduled to be arraigned today at Ipswich District Court in Newburyport.

“The Ipswich Police would like to thank members of the community for their assistance by providing anonymous tips during the investigation,” Moriarty wrote in a press release.

The investigation was led by Ipswich police Detective Ted Gallivan, assigned to the DEA Task Force Boston along with other members of this group, Ipswich police, Cape Ann Regional response team and the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services.
