After a man was seen walking down Federal Street at 9:11 a.m. with a large jewelry box, police took possession of it and will attempt to see if area departments can identify the contents.
A complaint about an unleashed pit bull on Sable Road drew police at 9:52 p.m.
A Mount Vernon Street man told police at 10:57 a.m. that he wanted to report a false charge of $2,117 from Verizon.
Toilet paper and sticky notes greeted a man on Brentwood Avenue when he came out to his car recently. It was covered in both. He brought photos of the vehicle to police at 12:14 p.m. and told them he thinks it's the work of kids who have been harassing his son. Police will make extra checks.
A $300 generator was reported stolen from a locked area on Palmer Street, according to the log at 12:51 p.m.
A woman reported being assaulted by another woman on Hancock Street at 2:47 p.m. Police advised her of legal options.
While shopping at T.J. Maxx, a woman lost her keys. Or they were stolen, as she told police at 2:48 p.m. As a precaution, she had her car towed home. Later, the store found her keys.
When you find your mattress in a plastic bag, it might not mean the landlord is giving you a hard time. A woman on Jefferson Avenue told police at 2:52 p.m. it was an effort to make her move away. The police suggested the landlord was about to spray for bedbugs. Even so, the tenant said, she should have been notified.
A bicyclist was hit by a vehicle on Derby Street at 4:36 p.m. Salem Fire Department and Atlantic Ambulance responded, but the cyclist declined treatment and rolled on his way. Later, he called police saying he felt worse and asking for help. But when police attempted to locate him, he was not where he said he'd be.
Graffiti on a front door at 93 North St. was reported to police at 5:17 p.m. Officers took photographs of the vandalism before it was cleaned off.
A woman on Loring Avenue told police at 6:04 p.m. that someone was buying gasoline and hamburgers in Florida with her credit card. It isn't the first time she's had this problem. Previously, her credit card had gone shopping in Paris, France.
A child exchange was worked out by police between a woman and her sister at 6:07 p.m. The sister had custody of the woman's child and was leery of giving the child back. "The child is not in danger, but the sister does have some concerns," according to the log. Police advised the sister of which agencies to bring her concerns.
Police responded to a complaint about loud noises at a home on First Street at 10:28 p.m., only to find a very quiet apartment. The occupants accused the man complaining of making a false report. The man was confronted by police, and he admitted there had been no noise. "But there have been problems there in the past, and you need to do something about it," he told the officer, according to the log. Then he asked for the name of every person in the apartment. The officer declined to answer.

A stolen Toyota from Lawrence was found on Clifton Avenue, according to the log at 12:49 a.m.
Police went to Lafayette and Palmer streets on a report of people being harassed as they walked by. A search was conducted.
With permission from Pioneer Village to leave his $200 kayak chained to a fence there, a boater was nonetheless unhappy to discover it gone at 9:11 a.m.
A $100 bike was reported stolen on Forrester Street, according to the log at 10:49 a.m.
A verbal dispute resulted at 12:35 p.m. when a woman supporting President Obama encountered a man handing out anti-Obama literature in front of the post office.
A woman walking her bike across Boston Street reported at 3:05 that the rear wheel was struck and damaged by a vehicle which then fled.

Armando Arturo Deleon, 38, of 83 Mall St., Lynn, was arrested on Lynnfield Street at 2:44 p.m. by Officer Mark Saia for driving with a suspended license.
A woman reported she can't settle her deceased sister's estate because her Social Security number was compromised, according to a 2:51 p.m. log entry.
A 56-year-old Marblehead man will be summonsed for shoplifting at Macy's in the Northshore Mall, as stated in a 3:10 p.m. log item.
Police received at report at 4:47 p.m. that a car window was smashed on Herrick Road, "possibly by a BB gun," according to the log. The car, meanwhile, has no insurance or registration.
A call at 7:42 p.m. regarding an "elderly" man "saying random things," according to the log, turned out to be a man upset that his family won't let him drive anymore.
Tuesday
A 51-year-old man on Lynn Street told police at 3:25 a.m. that "he was pushed out of his wheelchair," according to the log, and two men were taking it toward Lynn. In fact, police learned, he'd left his chair at home. "His mother responded to the scene and brought him home to Lynn."
A man on Stacia Road complained to police at 12:55 p.m. that two 5-foot metal grates were stolen from his property overnight.
A man who drove his motorcycle into a tree on Hamilton Road at 1:11 p.m. suffered a minor injury to his hand.
Sometime overnight, a woman told police at 1:43 p.m., "someone shut her alarm clock off and moved a picture of Jesus," according to the log.
A woman on Main Street told police that "an unknown man entered her apartment by using a key," according to the log at 2 p.m. When confronted, he left.

Monday
A resident on Rantoul Street reported an assault and battery at 5:24 p.m.
Police were charged at 7:46 p.m. to seek a woman who had departed in a red car, proclaiming she was going to overdose on Percocets. A search was unsuccessful.
Tuesday
Brent A. Lowry, 24, of 55 Sohier Road, Beverly, was arrested at 12:28 a.m. on his home street by patrolmen Erik Schultz and Brian Long on a charge of assault and battery.
Police responded to Cabot Street and reports of "threats to kill" at 10:11 a.m.
Ryan L. Comb, 27, of 56 River St., Beverly, was arrested at 10:50 a.m. on Mechanic Street by Patrolmen James McInnis and David Leblanc on a charge of breaking and entering to commit a misdemeanor and destruction of property. Police had answered a call regarding a suspected burglary.
Police responded at 1:41 p.m. to a report at Lothrop and Dane streets that a "woman stole a bicycle."
