Police: Man falls off crane platform after having seizure

MARBLEHEAD — Officials say a man was MedFlighted to Boston with a head injury Thursday after he apparently suffered a seizure and then fell at least 7 feet off a crane platform at Redd’s Pond.

Police received a 2:41 p.m. report that a man was down with a head injury at Redd’s Pond, according to a statement posted on the department’s official Facebook account. A firefighter said the original call was actually for a man having a seizure — and when emergency personnel arrived on scene, they found him on the ground.

The man was transported to Reynolds Playground in an ambulance and then taken to Tufts Medical Center in Boston via helicopter. His condition was unknown last night.

The crane was lifting a boat onto a trailer when the man slipped off its operation platform, the firefighter said. It was unclear whether the man was actually operating the crane at the time. A passing motorist saw the man fall and alerted nearby workers.

Nobody else was injured.
