BEVERLY — The School Committee is looking for people interested in serving on the search committee for a new superintendent of schools.
The committee will screen the pool of candidates, recommend a list of finalists to the School Committee and sit in on interviews of the finalists.
The search process will take place from Oct. 15 to Oct. 31. Search committee members must be available to attend several meetings over the three-week period.
The search committee will consist of nine members, including three members of the School Committee: President Maria Decker, Vice President Paul Manzo and Mayor Bill Scanlon. The committee will also include two parents of current students, two staff members, one school district administrator and one member of the general public who does not have children in the schools.
Anyone interested in serving on the search committee should submit his or her name and address, phone and email information to Maria Decker, School Committee President, 502 Cabot St., Beverly, MA, or email@example.com. Individuals are also asked to outline what they would bring to the committee in terms of involvement, skills and interest in the schools. The deadline is 3 p.m. on Sept. 2.
The School Committee is looking to hire a superintendent to replace Marie Galinski, who retired June 30. Retired Somerville Superintendent Albert Argenziano is serving as interim superintendent and helping with the search for a new superintendent.
The search will include an online survey where the public can express what they are looking for in the next superintendent, as well as focus groups throughout the schools and city on Sept. 10, 11 and 12.
