Police: Woman throws dead birds at neighbor

SALEM — Police say a Lafayette Street woman was sitting on her back porch on Tuesday afternoon when her downstairs neighbor threw dead birds at her.

Officers were dispatched to 224 Lafayette St. at 11:17 p.m. after a report of a “neighbor dispute,” according to the incident log.

A woman at the address said she had been sitting on her porch when a woman who lived on the bottom floor of her building — she didn’t know her name — “reached into what she thought may have been a bag and threw 2 dead birds in her direction,” police wrote.

The woman who threw the birds “did not say anything” as she did so. The birds did strike the woman who reported the incident.

The officers wrote that they did find two “small dead birds” outside the apartment building. They were directed to the suspect’s apartment but were unable to locate her.

Police told the woman to “stay clear” of the bird-throwing suspect and to phone police again if there were further incidents.
