BEVERLY — The continued public hearing on the proposed Walgreens on Dodge Street has been changed to 8:05 p.m. on Feb. 21 at the Senior Center, rather than the originally scheduled 9 p.m. start time, the Planning Board has announced.
The plan to start the hearing at the late 9 p.m. time had upset some residents who attended the original public hearing last month at the library.
Walgreens is planning to build a new store at the corner of Dodge and Conant streets in North Beverly. More than 100 residents attended the start of the public hearing last month.
Symes Associates, the development company that owns the land, originally planned to knock down the 1715 building on the corner of the lot to make way for Walgreens, but now says it will preserve the oldest section of the building while still building the Walgreens.
The project must be approved by the Planning Board. It is also being reviewed by the Parking and Traffic Commission and the Design Review Board.
