SALEM — Weeks after police were called to a shoplifting incident at CVS, they located the suspect, who admitted to the crime and was found in possession of narcotics, police said.
Timothy M. Fulford, 26, of 7 Alpine Court in Gloucester, was charged with shoplifting by concealment, illegal possession of a Class A substance and illegal possession of a Class B substance at 3:02 p.m. yesterday on Washington Street.
Police stopped Fulford because he matched the description of the suspect who had stolen a digital camera from CVS in January, which was valued at about $100.
Police said that after reading Fulford his rights, he confessed to the theft and admitted to having a drug problem. When police searched Fulford, they also found a bag that included heroin as well as a single pill of Suboxone. The bag also contained hypodermic needles.
The officers who made the arrest, Sgt. Kristian Hanson and Officer Thomas Pelletier, were on plainclothes duty at the time of the incident.
