Andrews to stay in Wenham

WENHAM — Town Administrator Mark Andrews will not be moving on to Maynard.

Andrews was one of four finalists for the town administrator position in Maynard, a community 20 miles west of Boston, but was not selected. The Maynard Board of Selectmen voted 5-0 Friday to hire interim Town Administrator Kevin Sweet, according to town officials.

Andrews was hired in Wenham in March 2012 on an interim basis to replace outgoing Town Administrator Jeff Chelgren, who was hired in Marblehead. Andrews’ contract was extended for another year on May 21, as selectmen geared up for a town administrator search, which was promised when Chelgren left.

Andrews currently makes $100,000. He could not be reached for comment yesterday.

Before coming to Wenham, Andrews was town administrator in Wareham from 2009 to 2012.
