IPSWICH — Christopher’s Table will be featured on “Phantom Gourmet” tomorrow.
A producer from the popular regional TV show visited the bakery, cafe and wine bar in Depot Square in November and decided to feature the store, said owner and chef Christopher DeStefano.
“I think what we offer at Christopher’s Table is unique in that we are not a traditional restaurant,” he said. “We are a wine bar with exceptional food. We take traditional American fare and add a nontraditional twist to it.”
The television show, which reviews eateries across New England, airs at 10:30 and 11 a.m. on MyTV 38.
DeStefano, who opened the restaurant five years ago after being a chef at The Inn at the Crane Estate, said the “Phantom Gourmet” film crew spent more than five hours filming 12 dishes and the restaurant itself.
“I think it is great exposure,” he said, adding that he hopes the show will draw customers from outside of the immediate area.
The show will feature the restaurant’s transition from a bakery during the day to a wine bar at night.
DeStefano called “Phantom Gourmet” a regional institution. It has been airing since 1993.
“I think food has become such a big part of our popular culture right now,” DeStefano said. “The ‘Phantom Gourmet’ is a pioneer.”
