Salem police search for car after 'shots fired'

SALEM — Police were on the lookout last night for a gray Nissan sedan with a loud muffler believed to be connected to a shooting in the city.

No one was hit, but shells were found on the ground, police said.

Officers responded to a call of “shots fired” on Boston Street, near Grove Street, around 10:45 p.m. Police issued a bulletin to surrounding communities.

The two-door sedan — possibly a Sentra — headed down Grove Street toward Peabody, police said.

It had not been located as of press time last night.
