At 12:34 p.m., an officer at Salem District Court arrested Kate Gast, 25, of 20 Adams St., Waltham, on a charge of intimidation of a witness. An officer said Gast “exchanged words” with another woman in a courtroom.

Officers on patrol in the area of Lafayette Street observed a woman they knew was the subject of a warrant and arrested her. Summer Revia, 26, of 40 Ward St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of illegal possession of a Class C substance, in addition to the warrant.

The Fire Department responded to a report of a chimney fire at 36 N. Liberty St. shortly after 8 p.m. According to radio reports, the blaze had already been extinguished by a resident.
