Police and the Fire Department responded to Pope Street after a 1:16 a.m. report of a grass fire.

An officer was flagged down by a passer-by at 1:28 a.m. “in regards to a person possibly sick or sleeping behind the wheel of a white Mercedes SUV” at Highland Avenue and Marlborough Road. Subsequently arrested was Jeffrey McCarthy, 52, of 15 Hancock St., Peabody, on a charge of drunken driving.

A vehicle was towed after a 7:31 a.m. report that it had struck a “cut piece of tree stump” on Highland Avenue and possibly damaged its transmission.

A Lynde Street woman reported at 8:13 a.m. that she had found a coffee cup on her back porch and believed a man she knew “may be coming by and sitting on the porch.” Police wrote: “She was advised to call if she does see him on her property.”

A 10:23 a.m. report that somebody wished to provide information about a stolen television brought police to 1000 Loring Ave. Subsequently arrested was Miguel Suarez, 31, of the same address, on charges of receiving stolen property over $250 and malicious destruction of property over $250. Police wrote: “The television was subsequently located outside of the residence after having been dropped into the bushes surrounding the building.”

Police received a 10:51 a.m. report from a Hancock Street woman who said she’d had a verbal altercation with her husband “because he stayed out all night and came home drunk.” Police wrote: “She stated she has only known him for 7 months and got married after a few months. She stated she wanted him to leave yesterday and after about an hour and a half he did leave.”

Police received a 1:11 p.m. report that a husband and wife were walking on Restaurant Row when they saw a man in front of them “take what appeared to be several pictures of two young girls who were walking in front of him in bathing suits.” Police are investigating.
