---- — BEVERLY — A local man was arrested on a kidnapping charge yesterday afternoon after, police say, he refused to let somebody get out of a vehicle during a verbal dispute.
Matthew Stetson, 18, of 14 Radcliff Road, was arrested on charges of kidnapping, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and threatening to commit a crime.
Police responded to Essex Street after a 12:08 p.m. report of a argument, according to the incident log.
Officer Mike Boccuzzi said in an email about the matter that Stetson was charged with kidnapping because he refused to let the unidentified victim get out of the car.
“It took a threat of jumping from the moving vehicle in order for the car to stop,” Boccuzzi said.
No further information was available last night.
