Jamie Stavros, 32, of 50 Warren St., Peabody, was arrested at 4:35 p.m. and charged with shoplifting from Target on Highland Avenue.
Police responded to a report of graffiti on the H&H Propeller building on Essex Street.
Police responded at 6:37 p.m. to a report of a woman sleeping in a black Toyota SUV in the parking area next to Walgreens on New Derby Street. The woman told police she was waiting for someone in Walgreens and had closed her eyes for a few minutes.
Police received a call at 6:53 p.m. that a woman had been in the bathroom of the Hess gas station on North Street for 30 minutes and was not answering the door. A store clerk unlocked the restroom door after police made several attempts to get the attention of the person inside. A woman was found lying on the floor. She told police she had been drinking all day and had fallen asleep. Police placed her in protective custody and took her to the police station.
Kathleen O’Hara, 59, of 461/2 Essex St., Salem, was arrested at 7:13 p.m. and charged with domestic assault and battery and domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a cordless phone.
Police responded at 8:14 p.m. to the area of Essex Street and Hodges Court for a report of two juveniles causing damage. With the help of a witness, police found them and asked what they were doing. The juveniles told police they had taken a flag from a business and knocked over a planter. Police took them back to both locations and had them put the flag back and clean up the planter. “After it was all cleaned up we brought them back to their parents,” police said.
Police handcuffed a man and placed him in protective custody at 12:07 a.m. after he was found wandering the halls of Salem Hospital, yelling and banging on the walls. Hospital staff told police he was not a patient. Police said he appeared to be highly intoxicated.
