The community is invited to a special book group led by author Randy Susan Meyers to discuss her book “The Murderer’s Daughters” on Tuesday, May 13, at 7 p.m. at Woodbridge, 240 Lynnfield St., Peabody. Coffee and dessert will be served. The group is free and open to all. The program is sponsored by the Lappin Foundation, the Jewish Journal and Cohen Hillel Academy. Emotions Anonymous, a 12-step organization similar to Alcoholics Anonymous, will meet weekly for the purpose of working toward recovery from emotional difficulties. Members are from many walks of life and are of diverse ages, economic statuses, and social and educational backgrounds. The only requirement for membership is a desire to become well emotionally. Meetings are held at Beverly Hospital on Tuesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. For more information, call Murray at 978-535-7676.

The Friendly Garden Club of Beverly will award a scholarship to high school seniors from Beverly who are pursuing a college career in environmental science, horticulture, botany, floral design, landscape design, conservation or related fields for the 2014-2015 academic year. Artists who live in Beverly, work in Beverly, are enrolled in a Beverly college or are a senior in high school, or are affiliated with an arts guild or arts organization in Beverly are eligible to apply to Arts Fest Beverly: Community Art Exhibition, a juried exhibition on display at Endicott College in Beverly from June 4 to Aug. 15, with a reception on June 13. Beverly artist Leighton O’Connor is this year’s featured artist. The exhibit is held in conjunction with Arts Fest Beverly, a free outdoor festival in downtown Beverly on June 14.
